Dog astrology

Before you are amused at the thought of a horoscope for a canine friend, why not consider the characteristics of the various sun signs in the animal known as man's best friend. If you apply them to your own faithful pet, you may just be surprised at how many of the general sun sign characteristics apply to Fido.

Aries

Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, and an Aries dog always believes in "Me First". He does not do well in confined spaces, but needs exercise and activity. The Aries puppy is quick to establish dominance in the household and doesn't suffer other pets gladly.

Taurus

The Taurus dog can be considered the strong silent type. A Taurus canine expects and needs to be pampered, and would much rather find a soft blanket in the house than to chase a squirrel. This canine type loves to eat, and can tend to fat if allowed to follow his natural inclination.

Gemini

The Gemini canine is the eternal yapper. This is a dog who tries to be everywhere and do everything at the same time. It is difficult to train, because it is hard to get the dog to focus on something long enough for the lesson to stick. However, the dog loves to show off the repertoire of tricks for applause.

Cancer

The Cancer is a home-loving animal, content to stay put, although the pull of the Moon in its psyche can cause monthly nights in the garden howling at nothing at all. This is the dog that will need constant reassurance of their value and importance in the life of the owner.

Leo

Just as the lion is the monarch of the animal kingdom, the Leo canine comports himself with a regal bearing and expects others to do the same. This dog may need to be reminded that the owner will not fetch and carry for him early in life, or the animal could be a demanding and time-consuming pet.

Virgo

A Virgo canine is never happier than when helping. To clear the table, bring in the newspaper or bring the master's slippers make the heart of this faithful beast content. On the other hand, the Virgo is a creature of habit and may become upset at any change in its regular routine.

Libra

The Libra dog sometimes is described as the shop-steward of the animal world. He is the one that insists on equal treatment for all. If he must sleep on the floor, then the master must sleep there as well. This dog also tends to run to fat in middle age if not curbed.

Scorpio

The Scorpio animal is always involved in a quest for self improvement and can never quite understand why he can't get it perfect. These dogs love to know a secret and sometimes make the best trackers.

Sagittarius

The Sagittarius canine is sometimes called a tail with a dog attached. Their exuberance and need for activity can never leave life dull for the owner.

Capricorn

The Capricorn animal does well in colder climates, and is absolutely infuriating to take on a walk due to his tendency to thoroughly investigate everything along the way.

Aquarius

The Aquarius dog is often a performer, loves to run with the pack, and is happiest when allowed off the leash.

Pisces

Pisces dogs tend to be moody, with emotions pulled this way and that. Sometimes they want to be around people, and at other times just want to be left alone.

With the above traits in mind, next time you are looking for a pet, take a look at the astrological sign of the animal. It may even be helpful to do some compatibility studies between yourself and the animal.
